The sauropod dinosaurs of the Iberian Peninsula

The sauropods, a lineage of saurischian dinosaurs, quadrupeds and herbivores, They were one of the best represented groups of Mesozoic vertebrates on all continents.. Very diverse in both shapes and sizes, These include the largest vertebrates that have ever walked on the Earth's surface.. Equipped with long necks and tails, They had an extraordinarily small skull compared to that of the rest of the known dinosaurs and their vertebrae, very complex, They had additional articulation mechanisms. The bones of the extremities, generally robust, They tended to form columnar structures adapted to support great weights.

In the Iberian Peninsula there was a good representation of these dinosaurs. In this talk, El dr. Ortega will tell us about its characteristics, of the findings produced in recent years and aspects of the complexity of these large animals that have yet to be interpreted.
