Clara G., associate professor of Ethics in the Faculty of Philosophy, is in crisis. Past fifty, just separated, unable to get a place at university and on the verge of becoming homeless, begins to suffer from strange attacks. He faints often, hearing persistent noises, he is invaded by dark thoughts, paranoics. Clara G. formed part of the system, but every blow is more cornered, every time it is closer to the margin. He is sailing adrift, bumping into several men, until his ethical compass is straightened by a chance encounter: a fabulously grinding kitchen knife. What should be the guidelines for their behavior in an increasingly hostile environment? What are the ethical boundaries of a system that only allows us to survive at the expense of the misery of others?
