The SGAE Center Cultural Room hosts the dramatized reading of Els Comas (He who does what he can is not obliged to do more), the play with which Beatriu Casanova won the 6th Short Theater Award 'Nous Temps' 2025. Summoned by the Valencian Association of Writers and Theater Writers (AVEET), the SGAE Foundation, the Superior School of Dramatic Art of Valencia (ASAD), the Actor's School (ESAC) and the Off School, The competition aims to encourage the writing of short theatrical texts among students of the drama schools of Valencia.
Under the direction of Diego Ramírez, the work will be performed by Sonia Alejo, Carla Almeria, Enguid Neus, Meritxell Guzmán and Bruno Tortosa. The Comas (He who does what he can is not obliged to do more) revolves around death, a situation that has the ability to bring out the best and worst in people, of uniting families and separating them. So, The text tells the story of a generation of families in which the parents have done what they could as they knew how., and the children do what they can just as they have learned.
Beatriu Casanova was born in Ontinyent (Valencia) and has a degree in English Studies from the University of Valencia and a master's degree in Secondary Education. He has also trained in classical ballet, flamenco and contemporary dance, as well as in Interpretation at ESAD. He started in theater through amateur groups in the Vall d'Albaida and has participated in shows such as Three in Stripes or What Now??, from the Pampol's dance company.
