The Sea of Cultures will celebrate its seventh edition between 4 and the 26 August at the Torreblanca headquarters (Nature Space) and Almassora (Benafelí Cultural Space), with concerts every Tuesday and Wednesday of this summer month. The protagonists of this edition of 2026 sónMarina Albero, Les Nits S’Acurten, Julio Bustamante and the trio integrated by Efrén López, Behnam Masoumi and Omran Adrah. Each will offer two short-distance concerts within the same week, starting at 20.00 hours, except for what is provided for 12 of August. As always, access will be free.
As usual in La Mar de Cultures, the poster is made up of musicians with a personal label who prioritize creative value over economic. Artists of various sounds, united by an open look at the Mediterranean understood as a meeting place between cultures and as a natural heritage that also deserves to be protected and celebrated. Marina Albero will open the cycle, pianist and composer from Barcelona established in New Orleans (united states), that develops its own language that fuses jazz, flamenco, Afro-Latin rhythms and Mediterranean traditions. His third album, A Nomad of Sound, is a musical journey that celebrates improvisation and dialogue between cultures. It was chosen Disc of the Year 2024 per Earshot Jazz. Throughout his career he has collaborated with artists such as Chano Domínguez, Pepe Habichuela and L’Arpeggiata.
The protagonist of the second week will be Les Nits S'Acurten, project by d’Onda multi-instrumentalist Héctor Madueño. After traveling the paths of rock, classical music and jazz, now he is betting on tradition, exploring the links between Mediterranean music, Celtic sounds and other root music. His second album, Orbayu, proposes a journey between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean with acoustic instruments and a clear inclination towards improvisation. Julio Bustamante will perform on the days 18 i 19 of August. It is one of the great references of Valencian music. It has accumulated more than four decades of experience and remains very active, with a demonstration of his recent disc, Constelator, in which guest musicians participate, such as his daughter Sira. An album that has been in the making for years and that gives rise to a varied set of artisanal pop. The last week will be starred by the trio made up of the Valencian multi-instrumentalist Efrén López, the Iranian percussionist Behnam Masoumi and the Syrian Omran Adrah, specialist in the qanun. Three musicians with great prestige in the music of the Mediterranean and the Near East. Together they propose a dialogue between traditions, leaving room for improvisation.
