The Big Party. The Corpus in the Museum

In 2026 are commemorated 700 years of the celebration of Corpus Christi in the city of Valencia, one of its most emblematic festivities and with the greatest historical roots. On the occasion of this anniversary, the National Museum of Ceramics and Sumptuary Arts “Gonzalez Marti” Presents the exhibition The Big Party. The Corpus in the Museum, a proposal that invites you to rediscover this tradition through the museum's collections.

The exhibition brings together a set of pieces that allow us to approach both the material and immaterial dimensions of the festival.: from the Convit Parade to the procession, going through the dances, the characters and symbolic elements that have shaped this celebration throughout the centuries. Many of these works entered the museum thanks to the work of its founder and first director, Manuel González Martí, deeply linked to Valencian cultural life.

through tiles, dress, documents and other testimonies, The exhibition offers a historical look at the evolution of Corpus Christi in Valencia, while highlighting its validity as living heritage. Declared Asset of Intangible Cultural Interest in 2010, This festival continues today to be a collective expression that involves institutions and associations committed to its conservation and transmission..

With this exhibition, the museum reaffirms its role as a research space, conservation and dissemination of cultural heritage, and adds to the commemoration of a celebration that is an essential part of the memory and identity of the city.
