In Between is a musical journey that crosses geographical and emotional borders. The singer and songwriter Elana Sasson, of Persian and Kurdish roots, along with his quartet —Santiago Bertel (piano), Stratis Hands (double bass) y Victor Goldschmidt (battery)— weaves Persian poetry, kurdish songs, Jazz harmonies and Latin rhythms in a sound that unites East and West.
Described by Songlines Magazine as having an “incredibly beautiful” voice, Sasson creates a live sound space that “shines with Mediterranean light and excites with the nostalgia of melodies soaked in longing.” (Jazz Club). World Music Central celebrated the project as “a profound meditation on memory, “migration and identity”, while BBC Radio 3 highlighted its “magical fusion”.
After a successful tour of Europe—Spain, Italia, Bulgaria and the United Kingdom—, the Elana Sasson Quartet presents a concert that combines delicacy and strength, improvisation and lyricism. Every performance is a search for home and belonging, an invitation to travel through sound towards a territory shared between tradition and contemporaneity.
