La família Yoshii es trasllada a un suburbi de Tòquio perquè el pare tinga més a prop la seua oficina. Els dos fills han d’adaptar-se a la nova escola, però xoquen amb l’hostilitat d’un grup de xiqutes, entre els quals es troba el fill del cap del seu pare. Besides, quan descobrixen l’actitud servil que el pare manté cap el seu cap, els germans patixen una humiliant decepció.
