Xàtiva hosts the third edition of “Catalinetes and Cançonetes”, the autumn cultural and festive festival aimed at families and which was presented today in a press conference. The event, that will be celebrated next Saturday 22 November 11 2025, is organized and sponsored by the Xàtiva City Council with the joint participation of the cooperatives Neu al carrer and Cercavila.
The festival focuses on music, workshops and activities in Valencian, with strong roots in local culture and traditions. He “Catalinetes and Cançonetes” wants to consolidate as one annual appointment of quality family programming, betting on the culture of kilometer zero.
The day will kick off at 10:00 h in the Garden of Peace with various scheduled activities: the Socarrel dance workshop, that of the Muixeranga de Xàtiva and the performances of "Marcel the Martian", “Canta Canalla”, the muixeranga "La Socarrà" and the Banda Jove de Música La Nova. The central event will be Ramonets concert which will take place at Gran Teatre de Xàtiva at 17 h (opening doors 16.30 h). Tickets can be purchased from the day 4 from November to 12.00 h a Vivaticket 24h, al web granteatre.com or at the Gran Teatre box office on Tuesdays 12.00 a 14.00 h i de 17.00 a 19.00 h. They can also be bought at the box office on the day of the concert from 16.00 h. Tickets are numbered and have a single price of 3 euros per person.
As part of the celebration, and following tradition, during the day the typical snack of this party will be distributed: bread of catalina, cat nougat and tangerines. Besides, there will also be games and face painting during the day.
The event is part of the will of promote children's culture in Valencian i recover the tradition of “the Catalinetes”, a children's school celebration historically linked to the feast of Saint Catherine (25 of November). With this initiative, It seeks to create a reference autumn tradition, outside the spring and summer seasons, where most similar proposals are concentrated.
One of the distinctive features of the festival is the will of’involve the city, welin Xativin entities and associations in the programming. In this way, they are made participants in the organization of the party and the children are shown the value of these spaces and traditions.
The Councilor for Culture of Xàtiva City Council, Alfred Boluda explained: "Because the traditions were being lost, we thought it would be interesting to recover this festival and convert it to the modern era. And that's how we managed to consolidate this annual event that families like so much". Boluda added that "the philosophy of this event is to highlight the local culture of proximity, the family show and the work of many organizations in Xàtiva that work with children".
In this way, he “Catalinetes and Cançonetes” is considered as one attraction for families from neighboring counties, inviting them to spend the day in Xàtiva and enjoy not only the concerts and workshops, but also local trade and catering.
