nodule, the Vall del Xúquer festival, has presented the program of its second edition, which will take place on 9 al 13 of October to six towns: Antella, Alcantara de Xúquer, blessed, Cotes, Sellent and Sumacarcer. this year, Node presents a schedule with 14 shows, among which stand out proximity proposals, like Pep Gimeno 'Botifarra' or Maria, but where state artists such as the Galician Carlos Ares also have a place, the Basc Amorante or the Burgos group El Nido, in addition to three family shows. "Nòdul is a festival rooted in the territory, with the cultural and natural heritage as a backbone, and which aims to provide the Vall de Xúquer with a stable cultural project, we want to give life to our towns, at risk of depopulation, and that the musical and stage proposals that are scheduled are a source of pride for the municipalities”, explained Jordi San Martín, mayor of Sellent.
Mariam Summer, co-director of Nódul has presented this year's program, and he added that "once again the starting point of the Festival is traditional sounds, but always looking for the most innovative expressions, linked to electronics or pop. The result of this fusion are novel and stimulating proposals, of emerging creators, but also more recognized, so close, com Botifarra or La María, with others coming from the rest of the State, bringing quality cultural experiences to our towns.”
The programming
The second edition of Nódul opens on Wednesday 9 of October with the contemporary dance show 'Mover montañas', of the actor and dancer from Valladolid Alberto Velasco, which will take place at 12.00 hours in the Plaça de la Església de Cotes. 'Move mountains’ is a dance-theatre piece that looks at folklore through queer identity and the avant-garde.
the same day 9 to the evening, Nódul moves to Alcántera del Xúquer, where the Plaça de l'Església will host the first family show of the program, the ELVISent and Jornalers concert at 18.30 hours. Four renowned Valencian musicians form this group that covers rock classics for boys and girls.
On Thursday 10 of October the Palau dels Comtes d'Orgaç, the Sumacàrcer, will host the 18.30 hours the El Nido concert, the traditional music quartet from Burgos that has recently presented its first work, 'Consistency', fusing tradition and contemporaneity.
Pep Gimeno 'Sausage’ arrives in Nódul also on Thursday 10, in his case at the Plaça de l'Església d'Alcántera de Xúquer at les 21.00 hours. The Xàtiva singer will bring his multi-award winning latest work to Nódul, ‘I see it’, an emphasis on women's work and the role of women as transmitters of culture.
On Friday 11 October will be the turn of the double programs. On the one hand, the Roser de Beneixida Church will host the 18.30 hours the concerts of Mallorcan Júlia Colom and Valencian Pau Corea, with two different approaches to the traditional original song. L'Assut d'Antella will be the next stage on Saturday, with the double concert of the Basque Amorante and the Valencian singer Maria a les 22.00 hours. Amorante is the stage name of the musician Iban Urízar, who makes popular music by experimenting with different musical instruments. Maria presented to 2023 his first job, 'The Assumption', which has brought new sounds to Valencian-style singing.
