Great July Night at the IVAM

The Valencian Institute of Modern Art (VAT) celebrates the Great Night of July, this saturday 18 of July, with a series of cultural proposals that will last in a special way until midnight, with free entry from 7pm and all galleries open for night visits. As a final touch to the day, The DJ Hits With Tits collective will offer a musical session starting at 9 p.m. with a selection of 'new wave', pop and electronic music.
Throughout the day the IVAM has scheduled activities for all audiences that include guided visits to the exhibitions, interactive workshops for families and a sound performance around the immersive installation 'Radix'. Besides, both the play space for early childhood and babies 'The corner of light and color' and the family library, aimed mainly at boys and girls between 3 y 6 years, They will be open until midnight to offer families free places to play and explore for the little ones.
As part of the actions programmed by the museum, DJ Hits With Tits will offer a musical session combining recognized classics with new proposals and current sounds. This collective, founded on 2013 by Ada Diez and Lu Sanz, promotes cultural projects with the aim of making visible the presence of women in areas such as music, comics and illustration.
Sound performance around 'Radix'
Within the framework of the celebration of the Great Night of Juliol, At 8 p.m. there will be a live sound performance by Demeter's Project, a female artistic group made up of classically trained musicians who will carry out a specific action for the exhibition 'Radix' by Tania Candiani.
Through this proposal the female performers generate an environment of sounds with breaths, echoes and vibrations that, combined with the light and space of the room, they cause the feeling of being inside an ecosystem, where everything is connected and changes over time
Activities for families
The activities scheduled for the Great Night of Juliol will start at 12 hours with the new interactive workshop for families 'Pocket Miniworlds', that proposes an immersive experience that combines art, sensory play and experimentation. The activity begins with a visit to the exhibition and, later, Participants play to design imaginary ecosystems as a group.
Visits to exhibitions
The IVAM joins the celebrations of the Great Night of Julol by organizing guided visits to the latest exhibitions inaugurated. Starting at 5 p.m., visitors will be able to discover the exhibition focused on 'La Albufera'. At 6pm it will be the turn to visit 'The IVAM Collection until today', a sample that brings together more than 500 works of 260 artists like Joan Miró, Andy Warhol, Man Ray, Marcel Duchamp, Cindy Sherman, Claes Oldenburg, Jacques Lipchitz, Martha Rosler, Robert Frank, Walker Evans or Maria Blanchard, among others.
The last commented visits will be at 7 p.m. to the exhibition 'Territories in transit / Duo only: irene grau & Marco Giordano’ and at 9 p.m., to the exhibition 'Apocalypse Now' by photographer Cristina de Middel.
