Godspell, the musical

Originally directed by Stephen Schwartz and John-Michael Tebelak, premiered on Broadway for the first time in 1971, where he achieved enormous success. Although it is not a religious work, the libretto is based on the story, through sketches, of different biblical scenes with a lively and fun story that celebrates life. In the words of Emilio Aragón himself: “Godspell is about loving”, “to pursue justice, to accept the rules of the game without giving in to what hurts us. Y, above all, to remember if we have forgotten, that life is a path that we need to travel hand in hand with each other”. For Flags, “energy” is the word that defines a staging “innocent, in contrast to the aggressive world we live in”. Godspell was the first musical that Emilio Aragón saw in Spain. His sister Rita was in it., who has experienced the process of creating this update in a very emotional way. In the case of Banderas, he knew the work in the years 70 at the Cervantes Theater in Malaga. He was just a kid, but he felt that performance like a mirror in which to look at himself.
