Ghost. OK

He 13 September 2005 a pandemic took place that affected an entire virtual world. Within the framework of the World of Warcraft video game, Chief Hakkar acquired a contagious spell called Corrupted Blood that, although he should never have left the Zul'Gurub dungeon, expanded unprecedentedly throughout the game. A software error caused, although the players got rid of the disease, your pets will get infected, thus causing the Corrupted Blood to spread throughout the entire world. This programming error triggered a virtual pandemic that would later help epidemiologists study cases such as COVID-19.. The Corrupted Blood incident connected, without wanting it or expecting it, the digital world with the earthly world in a way that is as human as it is terrifying. Virtual ghosts crossed the screen to tell us about who we are and what we can expect from our behavior through pixels. This whole story of life and death happened in turn on a green screen. Millions of gamers saw their world fall on the mantle of green monochrome CRT monitors, that with their light they create stories and characters that perch on the color that the human eye best processes., which is none other than green. The same green that saw the birth of the first web portals and that experienced an unprecedented virtual pandemic is what serves as the base support for the artist Aokizy (Seoul, 1988) who finds on screens a space in which to develop their work.

In this sample, Ghost, the artist, He delves into post-digital art in the internet era using his computer and relying on monochrome CRT monitors. Using green and the screen, composes its story on pixels that gradually fill with color and create new faces and narratives. In Aokizy's digital universe there is a language that manages to translate images into very specific signal systems. Comes to the monitors inspired by the Korean film The Maggie, that addresses themes of faith and doubt and that shows an image that makes you reflect on the faces it represents: that of a hand holding a cross on the screen of a CRT monitor. A combination between the sacred and the monochrome image that makes you understand that the monitors, far from showing obsolete technology, They are “devices that transform the meaning and identity of images”.

Just like video games shape green to create characters that live on the screen and run - and die- while completing missions, the artist finds in technology a space in which the interpretation of the human being is shaped. Their characters, reminiscent of Korean webtoons, reach the viewer, never without first paying your toll for the green. The images, the stories, faces and their entire world exist on a single tone, that is now camouflaged between the white walls of the gallery. The characters that inhabit his work are “constantly reconstructed and consumed”, as happened with the lives of World of Warcraft characters infected by Corrupted Blood, What would we imagine red if she were human?. It does this by understanding the parallelism of the screen and the canvas for what they are., “connected surfaces that temporarily contain and transmit images”. Ghostly images that take the shape of faces, animals or even documents in which art is attempted to be explained through other pretexts.
