Park Eun Sun's 'Genome and Sculptural Structure' Exhibition, South Korean sculptor living in Italy of international prestige, is the new commitment to public and outdoor art of the Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències, bringing together a set of eight large-format works made of marble, steel and granite, who arrives for the first time in Spain.
The exhibition is made up of an interior installation at the entrance to the Museu de les Ciències that presents the artistic production of Park Eun Sun and seven pieces located in different exterior points, from the lakes of the Hemisphere to the Palace of the Arts. The works, in natural dialogue with the futuristic architecture of the complex, They are abstract sculptures, in which the artist uses two types of marble colors combined and in which cracks appear, visible cuts and fractures that symbolize the contrast between destruction and creation.
So, these figures, that explore rupture as a creative process, interrelate with architecture, that also challenges structural limits to create spaces of inspiration. The installation located at the entrance to the Museu de les Ciències is made up of columns composed of compartments, which are also illuminated inside, Infinite Column-Diffusion of 2023 and of 2025 with polychrome marble spheres, onyx and stainless steel components and light, hollow spheres with a diameter of 12 cms
Outside, stands out the name 'Infinite Column - Accretion', that reaches the 11 meters high, made of white and gray marble, installed at the foot of the Monteolivete Bridge, as well as the three sculptures that seem to emerge from the lakes.
Park Eun Sun (Mokpo, South Korea, 1965) He is a sculptor internationally recognized for his work in marble., characterized by fractured and symmetrical forms that explore beauty in rupture and reconstruction. His work is distinguished by the use of divided marble columns, that symbolize wounds and reconciliations, and for an aesthetic that fuses eastern and western influences. Park has exhibited in cities such as Rome, Florence, Seoul, Houston and Berlin, and his sculptures are part of public and private collections in Europe, Asia and America.
