The exhibition Medieval gastronomy. The Book of Sent Soví and the kitchen in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries will show for the first time to the public the oldest culinary recipe book that is preserved in Spain, The Book of Sent Soví, a gastronomy recipe written in Valencian. The copy conserved in the Historical Library of the UV dates from the beginnings of the fifteenth century, But it seems that it starts from an anterior original not preserved than, probably, would be written in 1324, with what has just met his 700 birthday, This is why this exhibition is organized. The exhibition, that can be visited in the Academy Room until the day 4 of May, is structured in three sections: 'Cooking to read. The recipes and their ingredients'; 'Medieval hob. Cooking as a working space and creation 'and' eating together in the Middle Ages. The universe of the table’, and has numerous pieces from 23 lenders, Museums and archives, both Valencians and Spanish and European, they will illustrate a journey through the senses. They present hobs, mortars, Golden ceramic dishes, kitchen utensils, gots, pieces of goldsmithing that adorned tables, Banquet account books, debris of fossilized foods, Even of that period, that miraculously has been preserved, as well as images of Gothic art that illustrate these times and interactive montages that will bring the visitor to a lost world of flavors and smells.
