Canada Blanch Forum 2026: The housing dilemma

Leading international experts will explore how housing systems in Europe and developed countries are responding to pressures on affordability, why the results differ so markedly between territories and what policy combinations, investment and regulation are more effective.

From an international and comparative perspective, will be analyzed How housing policy can be rethought to ensure compatibility between growth, opportunity and habitability —so that cities like Valencia can continue to prosper without becoming places within the reach of a few.

He Canada Blanch Forum 2026 will take place on 11 of June at CaixaBank Valencia. A meeting in which they will participate:

Michael Storper, Professor at LSE and UCLA, presents its research on why supply alone does not explain the results in affordability and what role territorial inequality plays.

Maria Vassilakou, former deputy mayor of Vienna, shares one hundred years of experience in the most recognized social housing model in Europe.

Helena Beunza, President of ASVAL and former Secretary General of Housing of the Government of Spain, analyze what investment framework, regulation and legal security needed by the Spanish market.

Pedro Álvarez Ondina, CaixaBank Research economist, offers an updated diagnosis of the Spanish residential market.

Under the direction of Andrés Rodríguez-Pose, Princess of Asturias Professor at the LSE and world leader in urban and regional studies, This edition of the Forum will explore how housing policy can be rethought so that cities like Valencia continue to be places to grow., working and living is possible for everyone.
