Renaissance Festival 2025: II Conference on the Valencian Golden Age

The Valencian Golden Age was a period of great cultural effervescence, As is well known. Authors like Ausiàs March, Joanot Martorell, Jaume Roig, Joan Roís de Corella and Isabel de Villena represent the good and best of our medieval letters. The Crown of Aragon, Besides, lasted in Naples with the conquest of Alfonso the Magnanimous and, still, With the presence of the Borja popes in Rome, Renaissance cultural currents were becoming more and more present in our land.

That European cultural avant -garde situation also continued for much of the next century: In Valencia a court was established in the Italian way way, headed by the Duke of Calabria and the Foix Sister Widow Queen, now viceroy of Valencia. That court was the center of the literary production of men like Lluís del Milan, Joan Ferrandis de Heredia or Baltasar de Rosemary, others.

Next to all that literary activity, There was music. In fact, It is through some of those written products that we can follow how music and dance were part of the culture of the moment.

In these days we will take a look at that cultural and musical atmosphere, In the hands of specialists from different universities who will offer us their vision on our most prominent cultural century.
