Festival of the Humanities 2024

The third edition of the Dénia Festival de les Humanitats will look at the unknowns that the future poses and will feature the participation of relevant personalities such as the philosopher Massimo Cacciari, journalist and writer John Carlin, the politician and diplomat Shlomo Ben-Ami, the writers Nadia Muraveva, Remedios Zafra and Lucía Lijtmaer, political scientist Ivan Krastev, the essayist Santiago Alba Rico or the biologist María Blasco, along with many other top-level experts in subjects as diverse as anthropology, the story, economics or neuroscience, among other.

Under the title Deconfine the future: the limits, This third edition of the festival looks squarely at the new challenges of our society with an intense dialogue between the arts, the humanities, sciences and economics to avoid losing our essence as a species and preserve our freedom of thought and action. So, on thursday 24 will delve into the figure of the Valencian writer María Ibars and, in the afternoon, The opening speech of the festival will be given by Massimo Cacciariand the day will close with an interesting dialogue between Joseph Ramoneda y John Carlin around “The limits of politics”.

On Friday 25 will concentrate most of the dialogues and conferences. An intense day in which the limits posed by philosophy will be put on the table, the human body, the art, science, the planet or conflicts in different dialogues with personalities such as Sonia Contera, Carles Lalueza, Zafra Remedies, Santiago Alba Rico, Carolina Ciuti, Puri Mascarell, Maria Blasco, Emilio Santiago Muíño, Pilar Bonet o Shlomo Ben-Ami, among many others.

Saturday morning 26 will culminate with the last three sessions: “The limits of social structures and personal relationships”, with the intervention of Juan Arnau, Lucia Lijtmaer y Antonio Arino; “The limits of individual rights and democracy”, next to Màriam Martínez-Bascuñán, Ivan Krastev y Luis Ramiro; and the closing of the festival, with a speech from the hand of the writer Nadia Muravava.

There will be three days of reflection that will also call for action to try to understand, from the present, the future of humanity and the options that appear before our collective destiny. An open space that will offer the possibility for anyone to attend the conference and debate sessions, prior registration on the event website, where you can consult the complete program.

After three days of talks, debates and conferences of the Dénia Festival de les Humanitats, various parallel activities are added to its official programming. With this complete programming, Dénia Festival de les Humanitats reaffirms its commitment to critical reflection and dialogue on the great challenges of our current society, turning Dénia, for three days, in a privileged meeting point for thinkers, artists and citizens.
