The third edition of the Colombia Migrante Film Festival arrives (FCCM) in Valencia, the days 24, 25 y 26 October, under the motto “Environmental and Immigration Justice”. This event is organized by a network of artists, Exiled and migrants and international solidarity organizations. With this third edition it is consolidated as a fundamental space for visibility, Reflection and action around migratory problems and their links with environmental justice, Armed conflict and initiatives for natural preservation, narrated through art, Culture and cinema.
On this occasion, FCCM enters the complexity of relationships between environmental impacts and forced migration, From a global southern perspective, of migrants, refugees and returned. The central theme addresses three fundamental axes that will guide the activities, debates and projections during the festival week:
Forced migration due to disasters or nature intervention
This axis highlights the interconnection between human displacements motivated by catastrophic events, as natural disasters or actions that alter the natural environment due to human intervention.
Nature as a victim
Recognizing that nature is also a victim in conflicts such as Colombian, This axis addresses the instrumentalization of natural resources in armed conflict contexts, Environmental degradation, pollution and their impacts on affected communities, generating forced displacements and precarious living conditions.
Environmental leaders and leaders
The crucial role of environmental leaders and leaders in the defense of natural resources and the protection of the territory is highlighted, facing threats, violence and lack of effective protection by the authorities. This axis makes visible the struggles of communities that face illegal activities that threaten their environment and their life itself.
This edition prepares to receive 36 cities, where not only the different audiovisual productions will be projected, but listening territories will be developed, Healing and accompaniment spaces, that through art and body consciousness allow to provide psychosocial support. This cities circuit, of local organizations and supports, They become the fundamental basis of the festival, since they are these spaces where community relations are woven and constructive dialogue is encouraged.
