The Diputació de Valencia brings jazz this Saturday to Meliana with the performance of Lírica Big Band and the voice of Eva Romero. The Concert, that was planned for the 12 of July, it had to be suspended due to the rain and will finally be held this Saturday in the Patio del Colegio Pius XII in Meliana at 23:00 hours. The entrance, as in the rest of concerts of the festival, it's free.
Big Band lyrics, formed by 18 musicians with very diverse profiles—teachers, classical musicians and jazz and improvisation professionals—, has stood out for its freshness and energy on stage. Since its debut, he has performed at festivals such as the Valencia Jazz Festival, is not 2024 the Maestro Rodrigo room of the Palau de la Música will be expanded. He has also shared the stage with Valencian jazz figures and has been a reference in exchange programs and collaborations with musicians such as Voro García, Jesus Santandreu, Valmuz and with whom they share the stage again this Saturday, Eva Romero.
His repertoire combines great standards of classical jazz with innovative compositions of contemporary Valencian jazz. The band has two records: 'Iron fig' (2018) i Sapomorfo (2022), which show their ability to reinterpret classics and give space to new compositions. Interpretations that this Saturday will be accompanied by the voice of Eva Romero, the singer from Olleria with a completely self-taught vocal training, that of 2013 has sung regularly with different jazz formations and has different record works, among which stands out the one he led in 2020: ‘Victor Young Tribute’.
The concert is part of the first edition of the 'FEM-HO JAZZ' festival, that this summer has brought jazz to Carcaixent, you could, Real, in addition to three concerts at the La Beneficència Cultural Center in Valencia. The jazz festival of the Diputació de Valencia has featured groups such as the Original Dixieland Sedajazz, la Jove Big Band Sedajazz i Arantxa Domínguez i Ricardo Belda Quartet, among others.
'FEM-HO JAZZ' was born to respond to the demand of the municipalities, who are interested in offering this type of concert, and groups, that they want to touch. This request is accompanied by the remarkable increase in jazz music both in musicians and in groups and followers.
In this sense, emphasized the Deputy for Culture, Paco Teruel, 'FEM-HO JAZZ' has had "a resounding success".
