What do oceans have in common?, the kitchen and a contemporary art exhibition? The salt! Taking Keke Vilabelda's exhibition at the Center del Carme as a starting point, we invite you to rediscover an element as present in our lives as salt. Salt is the only rock that is edible for humans and has been essential in our diet throughout history. There are also many rites, superstitions and legends around salt, a mineral that is obtained from seas and springs. In this workshop visit we will reflect on salt from an artistic and ecological perspective, and we will experiment with it using it as material to create. Through the game, observation and collective creation we will explore how this everyday mineral has inspired artists, transformed landscapes and connected cultures over time.
