cactus scriptures: Andrés Neuman and Jorge Carrión

The Valencian Institute of Modern Art (VAT) presents the next 28 January a conversation between the writer, Argentine poet and translator María Negroni and the architect and writer Berta Ferrer, in which Negroni invites us to reflect on the relationship between literature and his own literary work with contemporary art. This is the first activity of the cycle cactus scriptures'with which, from an interdisciplinary point of view, The aim is to reread the work of Julio González and the history of art, through the eyes of the writers María Negroni, Miguel Angel Hernandez, Sara Barquinero, Estela Sanchis, Andres Neuman, Agustín Fernández Mallo, Manuel Baixauli and Alicia Kopf. The cycle cactus scriptures, curated by the writer and literary critic Jorge Carrión and moderated by Berta Ferrer, will be completed with the publication of a book that will collect stories, Tales, essays and even poems by these same writers. This cycle is part of the activities programmed by the Valencian museum on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Julio González.
Maria Negroni (Rosario, 1951) She is recognized for a vast body of work that encompasses poetry, essay and narrative, among which titles such as 'The heart of damage' stand out (2021) and 'Permanent collection' (2025). She has been awarded the Siglo XXI International Essay Prize and the Margarita Hierro International Poetry Prize for her collection of poems 'Utilidad de las estrellas' (2024), among other recognitions.

The next gathering will be 30 September and will be carried out by Agustín Fernández Mallo, whose most recent books are war trilogy, The shape of the crowd (Eugenio Trías Essay Prize) and the autobiographical book Atomic heart mother. The cycle cactus scriptures IVAM will also have the participation of 11 November of the artist, writer and researcher Alicia head, author of the novels ice brother y Echo Memory. Valencian writers Estela Sanchis, author of the novel So far everything is going well, and the writer and painter Manuel Baixauli, that you have received, among others, the Mallorca Fiction Awards, National of Catalan Criticism and Criticism of Valencian Writers, will complete the literary cycle. Their talks will take place on 29 April and 21 October, respectively.
