We welcome one of the most unmistakable voices of Spanish rock, JOSELE SANTIAGO, soloist of the band Los Enemigos. He will tell us about his new book “From the pallet”, published by Editorial Contra. The writer and music journalist Rafa Cervera will talk with the author.
About the book:
Josele Santiago (Madrid, 1965) He is one of the most unmistakable voices in Spanish rock.. In front of the Enemies, or later as a soloist, He has composed and sung with his liquorish voice impregnated with pain and joy one of the most enduring songbooks of popular music in the Spanish language..
From the pallet are a kind of memoir based on their main songs and tell, with a direct style, sometimes raw and other times lyrical, the particular journey of Los Enemigos and their vocalist, and a good number of unforgettable anecdotes of youth and the road, or in the words of the author "a subjective look at the heart of a band that has been able to air its stubbornness for four decades throughout a country that has not finished getting rid of the adjective precarious". But this book is much more: is the singular testimony of a key moment in underground culture, when, in the mid eighties, a group scene emerges, locals and fervent rock worshipers in the traditional Madrid neighborhood of Malasaña and surrounding areas where rockers swarm, mods, punks and other outcast species imbibed with rock and other substances who lived and died in a very free and crazy time that will never return.
