The happiness of the couple: the happiness that amazes, so easy and so simple, facing the pain that is known. The happiness of quiet love, joyful; sex and desire, everyday life... But also the complexity of the couple: be by itself, without further ado, facing the expectations that are imposed and at the same time those that are assumed. Because inheritances and customs are also part of the routine, the stigmata, observation of others and comparison with who we are, flawed learning, the motherhood that is sought and that does not arrive: «What if we decide not to / or it just doesn't happen?».
After the challenge posed in Violencia, with its reflection on the possibilities of language to illuminate—and make visible—our darkest areas, Bibiana Collado Cabrera takes up some of her usual themes in Chispitas de carne, and expand your vision of our world. These verses talk about the relationship with the women who surround the woman who writes., those who preceded her—the family, with mother, and literary genealogy, with the teachers—and those who accompany her, and includes complicit friends and strangers whose lives are idealized; verses that return to the presence and meanings of the body, to the social class and its marked path, to the money that allows or prevents…
And verses that are now settled in the reflection about love, in the awareness of a relationship that is built and transformed, on the possibility of joining the group of "daughters without daughters". From the knowledge of tradition, from the desacralized—luminous—use of words, Chispitas de carne reunites us with a poet who advances knowing well where she comes from, wondering with his poems—asking us—where he is going.
