When all practice is measured according to criteria of functionality or productivity, artistic creation runs the risk of becoming a fortuitous product. At the same time, the possibility emerges that the design is perceived as a work in miniature, so that the original border that mediated between both disciplines ends up being diluted. Based on the reflection on the artistic assessment criteria that prevail in contemporary society, the third series of the Context Practices cycle is organized. Tools for young job insertion in the art system, related to the project "Culture on Campuses - Youth Culture" of the University Culture Service, that counts, Besides, with the support of the Generalitat Valenciana.
On this occasion, the activity includes a debate in which the complexity of hybrid compositions is addressed, exploring both the advantages that can be caused by the encounter between art and design and the disadvantages it entails: constant pressure, the profitability requirement, the limitation of deadlines and deliveries, etc. This talk is with professionals from both fields (40 min) it will be preceded by a short introduction (10 min) which provides a theoretical framework on the subject that articulates the meeting. Next, the conversation will extend with critical dialogue around the paradox that arises when overproduction becomes the norm of work, eroding the time needed for reflection and conceptual maturation that any project requires (40 min). Finally, the reflection will open to questions from the public (30 min) until concluding with a summary of the day.
