The King (the one that leaves) Lear

The King (the one that leaves) Lear is a free and critical version of the Shakespearean tragedy that, respecting its complete development, crosses it with humor, irreverence and reflection. Six actors play almost twenty characters in this story of betrayal, madness and excessive ambition. It all begins with old King Lear, determined to divide his kingdom among his daughters according to the love they show him. From that absurd decision, a political storm breaks out, family and emotional that drags down ambitious daughters, noble traitors, opposing brothers and jesters who are perhaps the most lucid.

The adaptation maintains original scenes and conflicts, but he looks at them with modern eyes, revealing the grotesque, the contradictory and the current. Between dizzying role changes, intrigues and battles, almost all the characters meet a tragic fate. The montage uses minimal scenery, breaking the fourth wall, physical humor, repetition, irony and meta-theatrical play. The result: a delirious tragicomedy where the classic and the contemporary coexist. And when power is distributed on a whim… the one that goes to Lear is inevitable.
