Constant adaptation exercise

The next 12 December at 19:00 h, Filtre Center Expositiu presents Constant Adaptation Exercise, the new exhibition of the artist Fausto Agustín, an exhibition that reflects on the speed at which technologies evolve and the demand for adaptation that they impose on human beings. After more than a decade without holding an individual exhibition, Fausto Agustín returns with a project that condenses years of research, technical experimentation and conceptual evolution. A new imagery between the natural and the technological.

The exhibition proposes a dialogue between elements of nature - especially flowers and insects- and a post-internet aesthetic that reconstructs a new imaginary of “our contemporary nature”. Through parallels between the organic and the artificial, the artist intertwines worlds that coexist, They face each other and look for each other without touching each other., as states in tension within the exhibition space. The conceptual trigger for the project arises from a trip to Ukraine in 2019, where Faust was impressed by a particular funerary art full of flowers and symbols. years later, with the war already unleashed, His interest was directed towards the presence of new war technologies - such as drones- coexisting with elements inherited from wars from more than a century ago. From this intersection, the poetic and disturbing image that structures the exhibition is born.: drones pollinating the flowers of the dead.

The sample is mainly composed of digital paintings printed on methacrylate with an aluminum frame., whose brightness evokes the luminosity of a screen. These parts are accompanied by installation, video art, screen printing and other experiments in development, for a total 15 of works. The 3D textures of flowers and drones transferred to the two-dimensional plane especially stand out., that function as the conceptual core of the project.

The artist has been working for years on some of the elements present, although the final execution belongs largely to 2025. His creative process has focused on a symbolic and technical search: find suitable supports, question contemporary visual language and explore new tools - mainly 3D software- that redefine current pictorial practice.

With a career that includes individual exhibitions such as Who the fuck is the author? (The Czech Mona, Madrid, 2010) y 333 (Faculty of Fine Arts of Cuenca, 2012), as well as several collectives in Spain and Ireland, Constant Adaptation Exercise marks a turning point in his career. After years focused on commercial work and with only three participations in group exhibitions during the last decade, This project represents a forceful return to personal artistic production. “It is both a continuation and a rupture”, says Fausto Agustín, who presents this exhibition as a visual manifesto of his evolution and the concerns that have accompanied him during the last ten years.
