Drink the sea

Supergroup Drink The Sea, Peter Buck's new project (R.E.M.), will tour at the end of November and beginning of December presenting their first two albums

Drink The Sea is a new rock supergroup in which we find the Americans Peter Buck (R.E.M.) y Barrett Martin (Screaming Trees), to Chilean Alain Johannes (Queens Of The Stone Age, Eleven), to the british Duke Garwood (Mark Lanegan Band), to the mexican Lisette García and to the American Abbey Blackwell (The light, Alvvays).

Drink The Sea started three years ago, in 2022, when Alain y Barrett They improvised in the studio of the second in Olympia (Washington), just to see what kind of musical magic they could create together. Two years later, Barrett y Duke They toured together England e Iceland, before recording additional songs on Reykjavík. After, Barrett, Duke y Peter they met in São Paulo to record more songs, which continued with Alain joining them in Joshua Tree, plus then some additional recordings in the studio Alain in Santiago de Chile. The final production was carried out in the studio of Barrett in Olympia and the mix, in Barcelona. It can be said, exaggerating a little, that the band's two debut albums were literally recorded almost all over the world.

The group taking its name from a letter written by Duke, The albums have been produced and mixed by Barrett y Alain and reflect the members' extensive experience as composers, arrangers and singers. It also shows a strong influence of world music that permeates the music., given that, although the songs are based on traditional guitar configurations, bass and drums, the sounds of the Arabic lute also shine in them, the indian sitar, Indonesian gamelans and various percussions such as Brazilian surdo, the frame drum, the vibraphone, the marimba and the kalimba. At the moment they have already released several singles, being the first to leave “Outside Again”, who did it in may, and the last, “Tuareg Asteroid”, that saw the light six days ago. The records will be on the streets the first tomorrow 19 of September and the second, he 3 October. During all his concerts from the spanish tour (except in that of Oviedo), all the songs they perform from their albums (between the two they add up to twenty-two) will be accompanied by visual projections which have been filmed by the prestigious filmmaker Tad Fettig.
