Filmed Dance: Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater

The famous Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater company performs a program that addresses a wide range of choreographic styles, dances and music from all over the world. From the emblematic Revelations (1960) by maestro Alvin Ailey, that puts black spiritual dances, to the sumptuous Chroma (2006) by British choreographer Wayne McGregor.

The program, filmed in 2015, also includes Grace the Ronald K. Brown, that fuses modern dance and West African dances; and the doses of humor and overflowing energy of Takademe, which part of the Indian Kathak dance, created by the current training director, Robert Battle. Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater was founded in 1958 by the young and precocious dancer Alvin Ailey, establishing itself over the years as a great North American institution.
