The exhibition brings together a selection of works carried out over two decades, along with some unpublished pieces that had not been shown until now. The set functions as a direct review of his relationship with painting: what was, what was not and what was left halfway.
The artist himself puts it this way:
Painting and me. Me and the painting.
A (other) unrequited love story.
During 20 years (!) I was absolutely sure
that painting would be the way in which I would relate to the world.
Great music and comics, but I really liked to think of myself as a painter,
turning a deaf ear to stage fashions and shit.
A still image with infinite thematic and chromatic possibilities. Get over that.
Well then: bad decisions, bad people and bad experiences. all bad,
coupled with his own social skills that are more than questionable,
they pushed me off the cliff: to stop painting.
and I left it, will do like 4 years, and it was as sad as it was liberating.
I threw many large paintings into the bin... I don't even want to remember that...
but many others I keep. some unpublished.
