Dance Valencia, festival organized by the Department of Education, Culture, Universities and Employment through the Valencian Institute of Culture (IVC), presents the next 14 December the premiere of 'Body on a black background', a solo created and performed by the Colombian dancer and choreographer based in Valencia Edu Migro, from the Migro Danza company, at the Museum of Fine Arts.
In 'Body on a black background', Edu Migro proposes a space where inherited images “stop being relics and beat again”, in your own words. Inspired by the pictorial universe of 'Classics and Moderns', the artist is not linked to a specific work, but to the figurative realism that has shaped the European imagination. In the words of the dancer, on your behalf, names as prominent as those of Murillo, Van Dyck, Goya, Brueghel, Sorolla and Zuloaga. “they are present like a silent choir”. Migro absorbs the idealized stillness of those figures, both his posture and his suspended gesture, to reinterpret them through a contemporary body that moves, breathes and reveals what has remained immobile or hidden in the painting.
The work can be seen in the Joanes Room in two showings, at 11:00 and at 12:30 hours, with free entry by prior reservation on the festival website.
