An emotional tribute to one of the great pillars of Cuban music: Bebo Valdes. This concert celebrates the legacy of an artist who revolutionized the jazz Afro-Cuban and left an indelible mark on the history of Latin music. On the tenth anniversary of his death, In the year 2023, three exceptional musicians gathered to pay tribute to their artistic and human legacy: his grandson, the pianist Cucurucho Valdés, the double bassist Javier Colina—Bebo's close friend and collaborator—and the percussionist Moisés Porro, key figure in the Afro-Cuban scene.
This trio, which is defined as a “quartet” by Bebo's spiritual presence in each note, offers a tour of his work, including emblematic pieces from the classical and popular Cuban repertoire, original compositions by Cucurucho and songs that Bebo and Colina performed together in legendary venues such as the Village Vanguard in New York.
With a combination of virtuosity, rhythm, emotion and respect for tradition, is a celebration of Afro-Cuban music in its most authentic and vibrant form, and a tribute to the elegance and depth of the Valdés legacy.
