THE Runs of Jewels they come back next week on Pinedo beach to once again turn the south of Valencia into the scene of one of the most unique sporting and cultural events in the Valencian Community. The edition of 2026 will unfold from 10 al 14 of August, coinciding with the celebration of big party in honor of the Our Lady of the Rosary and will once again bring together riders and Amazons in races with more than 180 years of history. Organized by the Association Corregudes de Joies and Sant Antoni Abad de Pinedo, in collaboration with the City Council of Valencia through the local mayor's office and the FunMunicipal Sports dation, the corregudes keep intact the essence of a tradition born among the ancient lfarmers of the Valencian vegetable garden that competed to demonstrate the speed of the horses and conqusoluble the jewel precious, a knotted silk handkerchief over a laurel wreath which was delivered to the loved one at the end of the course. Ethe award retains the same symbolism and, hui en dia, the comptition gathers both riders and Amazons from different municipalities.
The day of Monday, 10 of August, will dedicated to the preparation of the track, the weighing and veterinary review of the animals, in addition to the first training sessions of the participants. The races will be contested from Tuesday 11 a Friday 14 of August, always from 18.00 hours, on a route of 700 meters in the sand of the pPinedo latja, in the area of the Cross of basin, where the participants will compete, as tradition dictates, a horse and no saddle. The last day will conclude with the presentation of trophies.
On the occasion of the total solar eclipse scheduled for Wednesday, 12 of August, the organization has decided to suspend the program scheduled for the day with the aim of guaranteeing the safety of the people participants, teams and audience.
The Corregudes de Joies de Pinedo were declared a Provincial Tourist Interest Festival al 2022 in recognition of a celebration that contributes to preserving the Valencian cultural and sporting heritage and promotes values such as effort, respect for animals, companionship and the preservation of popular traditions. every summer, this meeting brings together hundreds of residents, neighbors and visitors who comesten to the beach of Pinedo for enjoy a unique show, in which sport, history and tradition come together to keep alive one of the most emblematic customs of the city of Valencia.
