The Social Chair is established as a forum for reflection and debate on the major issues that affect contemporary society. In a context in which social vulnerabilities have intensified—especially after the pandemic—, The project seeks to provide rigorous knowledge and raise awareness around issues of social interest.
This session focuses on one of the most persistent and worrying problems of our country: child poverty. Based on the most recent data available, its structural dimension will be analyzed, its high chronicity and the profound consequences it has on well-being, equal opportunities and social cohesion. The meeting raises key questions about the causes and effects of this reality and presents some of the responses that are being developed to confront it.. In this context, The CaixaProinfancia program of the “la Caixa” Foundation will be announced as a reference experience and an example of comprehensive intervention aimed at mitigating the effects of child poverty and breaking its intergenerational transmission.
