Mechanical containment is a documentary theater work that was created to denounce psychiatric violence, focusing on a practice that continues to be common in psychiatric wards throughout Spain: tying people to the bed using straps. The work hybridizes testimonial and performative aspects to serve as a speaker for a group invisible to the majority.: psychiatrist people who have suffered some type of violation of rights during their medical admissions. One of these people is Rafael Carvajal, poet and performer who has experienced more than a dozen mechanical restraints and who takes the stage with Teatro de los Invisibles in this production. Why is this practice still carried out?? Are patients really listened to or are they systematically overruled for their diagnosis??
