Within this edition of Constellations & Asterisms and starting from the work process of our next piece —focused on issues such as light, the darkness, vision and matter—, We invite the visual artist Marta Azparren, who brings a different perspective on the image and ways of seeing. The Cine Ciego performance conference is proposed as a way to activate the materials of the essay of the same name (Resistance books, 2023) by Marta Azparren, investigating visual disruption, a certain blindness towards overexposure to images. Based on commented projections and actions, you travel through the colors/chapters of the book (this time black and white, light and shadow) as an excuse to generate a reflection on the contemporary exhausted gaze, physical and symbolic blindness and the need for a pause that opens new possibilities of perception.
Marta Azparren is a resident scholar at the Spanish Academy in Rome 2022 (cine experimental). Her work proposes a meta-reflection on artistic activity with special attention to the connections between creator, spectator, work and internal machinery of mediation, production and exhibition. The gaze is also directed towards the non-visual in the visual, what tends to disappear. His audiovisual proposals tend towards expanded cinema, the live edition, spoken cinema or video installation. He has exhibited his work in institutions such as Cineteca Matadero, CA2M Museum, CCCB, Circle of Fine Arts, Triennale di Milano and at international film and new media festivals.
