A total of 22 young guitarists from among 10 y 24 years from Romania, Italia, Spain, Mexico, Germany, South Korea and Russia meet 22 al 24 November at the Joaquín Rodrigo Superior Conservatory of Music in Valencia to participate in the final phase of the Alhambra Junior International Guitar Competition (CIGA Junior). Under the artistic direction of guitarist José Luis Ruiz del Puerto, The Competition is organized by the Alhambra Guitarras Foundation in collaboration with the Valencia Conservatory of Music, and its main objective is the promotion of this instrument and its artists, with a special interest in supporting education and young people.
The choice of the Higher Conservatory of Valencia as the setting for this edition is not a coincidence, since the center bears the name of one of the authors who has given the guitar the most prestige and international visibility.: Master Joaquín Rodrigo.
According to Ruiz del Puerto, “This Competition constitutes a unique platform at an international level to promote the youngest guitar students, since it gives them the opportunity to enter the world of guitar at an almost professional level and begin to take their first steps in it.. Given the situation we are experiencing at the moment due to the serious consequences of Dana in our province, we doubted to carry it out, But finally we think that the best way to honor those affected is to continue with the Contest and offer them, through music, a little peace and comfort in the face of the catastrophic situation they are experiencing.”.
