The violinista Erola Masked, winner of the Cañada Blanch scholarship at the BritishSpanish Society Scholarship Awards 2025, and the pianist Aimee Taranni present in the cycle Live Music from Fundación Cañada Blanch his first recording project.
Under the title Echoes of the Hearth: Popular melodies and poetic writing in the violin sonatas of Delius and Turina, The program illustrates how both composers transform folkloric materials into personal expressive language, combining color, atmosphere and sensitivity. His sonatas flow organically through subtle transformations of musical motifs., without depending on rigid classical structures or virtuosity, and offer an excellent opportunity to bring to the public a rarely performed chamber repertoire, but of great stylistic richness.
The recital they present is born from the scholarship project “Tradition and modernity in the sonatas for violin and piano by Joaquín Turina and Frederick Delius” in which Masqué combines research, interpretation and dissemination with the aim of promoting composers whose music is rooted in popular traditions and who transform these elements into personal languages within classical music.
After four years of chamber music training at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Erola Masqué and Aimee Taranni undertake this recording project, whose album will be released at the end of 2026, with which they explore works by rarely performed composers and seek new audiences to experience music rooted in popular traditions.
