From its beginnings, The MuVIM has annually presented to the public a - brief but select - program of classical music as a complementary activity to its cultural offer. Music constitutes an essential intangible heritage, capable of transmitting values and emotions through time. Its universal character makes it a bridge between generations and communities, preserving diverse cultural traditions and encouraging, so, the dialogue between different cultures and different moments in our history. Protecting it and spreading it is, therefore, guarantee the continuity of a collective memory that identifies and enriches us.
this year, that the museum turns twenty-five years old, the musical selection we present embraces a long period of European history, all starting from Elizabethan music—always elegant, melodic and melancholic— to the new sacred music created by contemporary composers, an initiative of the Youth Choir of the Valencian Community. We will meet great composers known as Stravinsky, Mozart, Janáček about Rakhmàninov, whose music we will enjoy at the hands of internationally recognized performers such as Yago Mahúgo (harpsichord) about Ludmil Angelov (piano).
in between, we will also be able to revisit duets and arias in the history of opera or get closer - in the month of March - to the music created by female composers. even, we will enjoy a concert where classical music - from Schubert to Debussy, through Manuel de Falla or Erik Satie—it will pass through the timbre and rhythmic sieve of jazz. Not forgetting that the 2 of July 2026, which will be fulfilled exactly 25 years since the inauguration of the MuVIM, the Choir of the Generalitat Valenciana will offer a concert, specially designed for the occasion, with music by Valencian composers such as Manuel Palau, Matilde Salvador or Josep Ramon Gil-Tàrrega. It will be the only concert that, instead of Sunday at 12 h, it will be a Thursday at 19 h.
