Civic

One of the most exciting bands that have emerged in recent years, CIVIC has reinvented the unbridled intensity of the proto-punk for an era of endless uncertainty. In your debut album 2021, Future Forecast, The band from Melbourne offered a burst of songs that combine their frantic sound with an explosion of self -awareness and an incisive observation of the world that surrounds them, A dynamic that has earned them enormous recognition of criticism, as well as the admiration of figures such as the Punk Legend Henry Rollins.

As shown in its next second long -term album, Taken By Force—A album that the band rightly summarizes as «1984 meets Endless Summer» —Civic destroys the line between furious catharsis and unbridled fun with joy, introducing a new and vital energy in the current music scene.

Acclaimed by Stereogum as «an impious pile of garage rock lo-fi, Punk and Noise-Rock of the 90s », Civic permeates each song with a visceral urgency that hints its shared story on the local Hardcore scene. The band began to form in 2017, When vocalist Jim McCullough and a friend devised a musical project inspired by iconic Australian punk bands such as Radio Birdman and The Saints. In six months, Civic had launched his debut EP New Vietnam, a powerful publication of 2018 that made Vice Crown the band as "the new kings of the wild rock of Melbourne".

During the following years, Civic made a name like a captivating live band, defined by a masterly controlled chaos, undertaking a European tour in 2019 and stepping on such prestigious scenarios as the Golden Plains Festival de Victoria. With the arrival of Future Forecast, who was received with enthusiasm - and praised by NME as "an album that rivals the experience of going to a concert in real life" —Civic saw how its fans base expanded far beyond its native country, signing his contract with ATO Records at the end of 2021. After a change in training, With guitarist Jackson Harry and drummer Matt Blach joining the band, Civic went to work in Taken By Force.

For the recording of Taken By Force, Civic was isolated for a week at Harry's father's house in the deep field of Castlemaine, recruiting radio vocalist Birdman, Rob Younger, as producer. Taken By Force Take its title of a vibrant and bombastic track that perfectly encapsulates the underlying narrative of the album.

Mixed and mastered by Mikey Young (Total Control, Eddy Current, Sonny & the Sunsets), Taken By Force begins with an ominous intro whose origins reflect the enchanted nature of the recording process. “We knew we wanted to start the album with war sirens, But we didn't simply want to take them from YouTube ", dice McCullough. “One night, We all woke up with emergency sirens sounding, So I ran to the field and recorded them with my phone. We made Lewis and Blach placed two holes face to face and hit a rhythm of march at two in the morning - all was so intense, spooky and incredible. "

Although much of Taken By Force It is full of images of dystopian war - bloody body, Funeral piras, Heavens illuminated by burned garbage flames - their songs often explore the most intimate aspects of human experience.
