This year marks the centenary of the birth of Adolfas Mekas, key figure in the history of independent cinema. Adolfas Mekas left a fascinating and diverse cinematographic work. But maybe, More important, inspired generations of filmmakers, artists and scholars through his legendary classes and lectures at Bard College, where he taught until his death in 2011.
The work of the filmmaker and the film “Hallelujah The Hills” will be presented
and the compilation of essays by Adolfas Mekas, unpublished to date, by Julius Ziz, with explanations, comments and subsequent debate.
Julius Ziz is a multidisciplinary New York artist who travels especially from New York to participate in this presentation within the framework of ValenciaPhoto. Known for his work in experimental cinema, visual poetry and sound art. His work is characterized by a deep symbolic and poetic charge., where memory converge, the dream and the absurd. Ziz has worked in collaboration with figures such as Jonas Mekas, and his films have been presented at international festivals and contemporary art spaces. His style, intimate and contemplative, explores the human condition through a very personal and lyrical audiovisual language.
Synopsis. This independent comedy, marked by a free and experimental style, follows two men—Jack and Leo—who fall in love with the same woman, Vera. The film challenges the conventions of traditional narrative cinema and becomes a playful celebration of love, youth and avant-garde cinema.
