The SGAE Foundation joins the celebration of World Animation Day with a special short film session organized by the festivals Animalcoi y Prime the Animation!, together with the FAN Network (Animation Festival Network).
The day proposes a special selection of international short films animated in stop motion technique, curated by Sergio Rodríguez (Polytechnic University of Valencia and member of the FAN Network) and composed of the following titles: Porto’s old man, by Tânia Marques (2023); Poor Antonio, by Mariana Guerreiro Ferreira and Eudald Rojas Lluís (2022); Ready, by Alessia Angelini (2021); Heatwave, the Fokion Xenos (2019); The tornado outside, by Maria Tomazou(2023); Pasty child, by George Tymvios and Andy Luck (2012); y The last line, de Ido Andrikopoulou (2023).
Through this initiative, Animalcoi, Prime the Animation!, the FAN Network and the SGAE Foundation reaffirm their commitment to the promotion of animated cinema, while promoting the creation of meeting and collaboration spaces between professionals in the sector., students and fans.
Since the year 2003, each 28 October marks World Animation Day. The date coincides with the first public screening of animated films, which took place in Paris in 1892, by French cinema pioneer Charles-Émile Reynauden.
