This activity consists of two parts: first, a conference that introduces attendees to the manuscript dances of the Catalan and Iberian schools of the 16th and 17th centuries; second, a practical workshop where you learn the movements and choreographic figures described in these documents. Two dances are mainly worked on: the pavan, with its formal entrance structure, change and refuted cadence; and La Valenciana, a piece recently studied with new documentary sources that allow a more rigorous execution.
Who is it aimed at??
The workshop is intended for people of different levels in the practice of dance: professional and amateur dancers, musicians, musicologists, historians, performers of the performing arts or anyone else interested in exploring this repertoire of dances in an accessible and playful way. The moves that will be learned can range from a basic level to virtuosity, according to the experience of the group in general and the dancers in particular. It is not necessary to attend the course with a partner.
Taught by Raül Sanchis Francés (Rovira i Virgili University; From step to stroke), Carles Mas (Download; From step to stroke) and Anna Romaní (Xuriach; From step to stroke).
