There is a lot to be said for trying to improve the situation of some disadvantaged people. There is nothing to say about trying to create heaven on earth. If you lead a country like Great Britain, a strong country, a country that has taken the lead in world affairs for better and for worse, a country that is always trustworthy, then you must have an iron touch.
