On the occasion of the centenary of Pierre Boulez, Canada Blanch Foundation, he French Institute of Valencia and the Instrumental Group of Valencia, proposes a concert that links two seemingly distant universes: the one of French baroque of Fran1cois Couperin (1668–1733) and that of the Boulez's radical modernity. They both share, however, a deep relationship with the text and with the idea of transcendence through sound.
In dialogue with the Lessons of Darkness by François Couperin and the texts of Book of Jeremiah, the emblematic works of Boulez —Anthemes, incised, Domains— reveal a soundscape where spirituality and reflection merge in a contemporary experience. This program traces a line of filiation that crosses the centuries and shows how music, even in its greatest formal complexity or in its most delicate simplicity, remains a possible reading of human darkness.
The concert presented pays tribute not only to an essential composer, but also to the spirit of those who believe that music is a way to understand today's world: her beauty, its tearing and its incessant search for meaning.
