Manises Ceramic Biennial: Carmen Calvo and Miquel Navarro, through ceramics

The Center of the Carme Culture Contemporary (CCCC) reviews the careers of artists Carmen Calvo and Miquel Navarro in a conversation that will take place on 29 of April, on the occasion of the celebration of the XVII International Ceramic Biennial of Manises.

Carmen Calvo and Miquel Navarro are two key figures in the development of contemporary Valencian art. During the talk 'Through ceramics', which will be moderated by the Art History professor at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, José Luis Clemente, The artists will tell in first person their contributions to art in recent years. 50 years and their experiences as pioneers in the use of ceramics in creative processes.

The Director-Manager of the Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community (CMCV), Nicolas Bugeda, has pointed out the importance of a meeting that pays tribute “to two fundamental figures of Valencian art who studied here at the Center del Carme and whose careers have crossed borders”.

The artistic projection of Carmen Calvo and Miquel Navarro has been parallel from the beginning until they achieved international recognition in a short time., exhibiting with other Spanish artists, in the legendary exhibition at the Guggenheim in New York 'New images from Spain' (1980).

Starting from exhibitions at the legendary Vijande Gallery, His works have been exhibited in relevant national and international galleries and museums., and his work is represented in important institutional and private collections. Both are National Fine Arts Prize winners and have represented Spain at the Venice Biennale., among other important recognitions.
