Human libraries

THE ETHNO, Valencian Museum of Ethnology, turns the rooms of its permanent exhibition back into a listening space, intercultural dialogue and coexistence with a new edition of his 'Human Libraries', initiative organized by the museum library of the Provincial Council of Valencia in collaboration with Valencia Acull.

'Human Library’ is an international initiative born in Denmark in 2000 which proposes to replace books with people. Instead of reading pages, the people attending read, through active listening, real stories told in the first person in a cross-cultural space. This initiative was developed in L'ETNO for the first time in 2022 i, on this occasion, is linked to the temporary exhibition 'Catalogue of fences. ESCIF’.

The sessions will take place on Saturdays 30 of May and 20 from June to 11 hours in the museum, on, through small group discussions, Migrants from different countries will share their life stories. This proposal is recommended for over 12 years.

In each of the sessions, five people linked to Valencia Acull will participate who will share their experiences; a maximum of can attend 50 people readers. Those interested in attending can do so at both sessions, since different people will participate in each of them. The activity requires prior registration through the form available on the ETNO website.
