Antoñita: body and memory

How would you dance if you didn't listen?? On stage, a dancer crosses three universes: the vibration that runs through the body, the fading memories and the return to childhood, to the game and the illusion. This dance solo explores new ways of listening, perceive and communicate. An accessible proposal for deaf people that transforms flamenco dance into a way to awaken emotions, retrieve the memory and imagine again.

Irene de la Rosa is a creator, Valencian dancer and teacher, graduated in Spanish Dance, Right, ADE, Dance pedagogy, and master's degree in Cultural Management. He directs his own company and develops his work from contemporary flamenco, in dialogue with contemporary dance and interdisciplinary creation. His research explores new scenic languages around the body, memory and identity, with special attention to accessibility, cultural mediation and the creation of new audiences.

Antoñita was born out of a personal need: to meet again, accept my circumstances and dream again. The process started with Vibrate and a question: how would you dance if you couldn't hear? By investigating vibration as a form of presence, communication and listening, and thanks to the work with the collective of deaf people of FESORD, I understood that listening does not belong only to the ear and that there are other ways to reach the movement.
Memories began to emerge from that vibration, like distant sounds that hide when you try to reach them. actually, they were no-records, black holes in memory. In record than in record. You don't feel like certain memories are leaving? They leave us?
This is where La Múa was born, a journey to cross the sadness caused by those memories that our mind thinks it has forgotten.
I, from the dark, the little girl who danced to play reappeared, imagine and understand the world. What seemed like an end became a new beginning. For me, Antoñita is a way to remember where I come from, recover my illusions and look towards the future from another place. I hope that the public will also find a space to recognize themselves, dream and wonder: what did you play as a child?
