The story of And Also The Trees dates back to mid 1979 an Inkberrow, Worcestershire, When Two Pairs of Brothers—Simon Huw Jones (voice), Justin Jones (guitar), Graham Havas (low) and Nick Havas (battery)—they formed the band. Influenced by the post-punk of the time and by their rural environment, They adopted the name “And Also The Trees”, title of one of his first compositions. Since its beginnings, The band was characterized by an elegant melancholy and an aesthetic inspired by the romantic classics of literature..
Throughout his career, And Also The Trees has maintained constant activity, both in studio and live, touring Europe, United States and Japan with each of their 14 released albums. However, They had never performed in Spain, until the 2023 with only two dates in Madrid ( sold out ) and Barcelona
In 2016, They released “Born Into The Waves”, Considered by many to be one of his most accomplished works.. In 2022, They published “The Bone Carver”, written and recorded for three years in London, Switzerland and in an old barn near its roots in the Midlands. This album marked the first collaboration with bassist Grant Gordon and clarinetist Colin Ozanne., bringing a subtle but intriguing twist to the band's evolution.
In 2024, And Also The Trees released his sixteenth studio album, “Mother-of-Pearl Moon“. This work, which includes three instrumental songs, explore a more atmospheric side, introspective and experimental, differing noticeably from its predecessor and getting closer to the sound of “Hunter Not The Hunted”.
The album was preceded by the single “This Path Through The Meadow.”, accompanied by a video in which the band performs the song in front of projections of archival images of a black and white peasant dance filmed in Poland. Critics received “Mother-of-Pearl Moon” with enthusiasm, highlighting their adventurous character and the artistic maturity of the group. Besides, in 2024, Simon Huw Jones collaborated on the album “Songs for the Dead” by Belgian violinist and composer Catherine Graindorge, lending his voice on various topics. The song “Eurydice” was featured by Iggy Pop on his show “Iggy Confidential” on BBC Radio 6 Music, especially praising Jones' vocal performance.
The band went on tour in 2024 that covered England, France, Belgium, Germany, Netherlands and Denmark. The concert at the Cinetol in Amsterdam on 26 October 2024 had the special participation of violist Donna McKevitt. This tour further cemented And Also The Trees' reputation as a constantly evolving and creative band., staying relevant in the contemporary music scene.
