Ana Esteve Reig presents The respawn ritual, an individual exhibition composed of two video installations that reflect on virtuality and the time we spend in front of screens. The title alludes to the term “respawn”, typical of video games, which designates the act of dying and appearing again in the game, an idea that runs through both works as a metaphor for the experience in digital environments.
The exhibition brings together 'Gamer Dreams', a video that travels through continuous tracking shots of the physical spaces where multiple virtual stories develop, and 'The Respawn Ritual', a piece that places the viewer inside the gameplay while a group of friends reflects on life, death and fear among other topics from his experiences playing video games. Through audiovisual language, the artist addresses personal stories that become shared and universal experiences.
