Since its recovery for the city and culture in 2018, The Filmoteca co-organizes with the Mostra de Valencia – Mediterranean Cinema some of its cycles and activities. On this occasion, there are three sections that will take place in the Berlanga room. First of all, a retrospective dedicated to one of the most relevant and original contemporary filmmakers, the Italian Nanni Moretti. In his work, impossible to close in a category, there is autobiography, political reflection, film-essay, comedy, drama i a lot of irony: "It is true that I started from myself, of my anxiety, of my neurosis and my tics, but luckily I managed to reach the others. Explaining to myself, I also counted my peers". But this is not a narcissistic display, but of an attempt to understand the world and the way of being in it. Actor in many of his films, his characters are transmuted of himself: we have seen him as a creator, with the stop, as a husband, as a son and as a citizen. He shared with us the pain of his mother's death, the joy of the arrival of his son, their vulnerability to the disease itself, his bewilderment at the drift of politics, his daughters and his phobias. Faced with the question of whether it is considered subversive, given the strong political and even militant component of much of his cinema, his answer is clear: "I wouldn't define it that way. Subversiva will be the New Wave. I would say that my cinema is personal and non-conformist, and I hope also humanist". With copies restored by the National Cinecion of Ecce bombo, Sweet dreams of the Red Palombella, i for the Cineteca de Bologna of The Son's Room.
